NSERC Industrial Research Chair in Silviculture and Wood Production

Mission of the Chair

To increase forest productivity by developing and applying intensive silvicultural methods while preserving the integrity of ecosystems.

Research Objectives

To determine the impact of establishing intensively managed fast-growing plantations with exotic species on natural biodiversity.

Develop innovative silvicultural experiments to improve growth rates, yields, and carbon sequestration in managed forests.

Identify the processes involved in the establishment and rapid growth of planted trees.

Restore the productivity of degraded or unproductive sites using intensively managed plantations of exotic or native tree species.
