This fall, Institut nordique du Québec (INQ) invites members of the northern and Arctic research community, as well as the next generation of researchers, to take part in three initiatives designed to foster skills development, networking, innovation and student engagement.

The Graduate School of International Studies (ESEI) at Université Laval is currently seeking applications for a faculty position in Arctic defence and security. The successful candidate will hold the Desgagnés Chair in Arctic Defence and Security and will benefit from a research budget of more than $200,000 per year for five years.

PAP-27 will investigate the physical, biogeochemical, ecological, and societal connectivity between the Beaufort Sea, the Canadian Arctic Archipelago, and adjacent coastal systems through coordinated international research platforms and Indigenous partnerships. Researchers from Quebec and Canada are eligible to apply.

Institut Nordique du Québec (INQ), the Swiss Polar Institute (SPI) and the French Polar Institute Paul-Émile Victor (IPEV) are jointly launching the CASCADES expedition as part of the Peak Program Transforming Climate Action (TCA). Scientists who are members of TCA at Université Laval and Université du Québec à Rimouski (UQAR), their colleagues from Dalhousie University and Memorial University, as well as Swiss and French research teams, are invited to submit their proposals until June 2, 2025. Fieldwork for the selected projects will be conducted during the summer and fall of 2026.

GALI, funded by Global Affairs Canada, allows researchers to fund projects that focus on enhancing Canada's leadership in the Arctic and fostering collaborations in the Circumpolar North.
