A new Regional Center of the University of the Arctic will be established in Quebec

Quebec strengthens its position as a leader in northern and Arctic research with the official creation of a new Regional Center of the University of the Arctic (UArctic).
A strategic international collaboration
On June 7, 2025, during the UArctic Annual Assembly in Inari, Finland, a major partnership was formalized between:
- Université Laval (ULaval)
- Institut nordique du Québec (INQ)
- University of the Arctic (UArctic)
This strategic alliance is materialized through the signing of a memorandum of understanding establishing the new Regional Center.
INQ at the heart of coordination
Institut nordique du Québec will assume coordination of this Regional Center, drawing on:
- A solid interdisciplinary and intersectoral network
- Cutting-edge northern and Arctic expertise
- Its future $105 million scientific complex, scheduled to open in 2026 on the Université Laval campus
